African Music/Dance Galleries

Einmal im Jahr ist der kleine Ort, Harbach im Waldviertel, Schauplatz des Kasumama Afrika Festivals. Was macht dieses Festival so besonders?

Just going down memory lane reminiscing on the last 2 months filled with activities the Akaryoshye - East African Party was just one of many events that stood out. Younger crowd, great music and diverse group of people.

The third year of Roots Music from Southern Africa right here in Vienna Austria. A beautiful line up of African artist staging performances that one rarely gets to see. This brought the night to an absolute hault, as if one were seated in a venue somewhere back in Africa and time just waited on this moment.

At short notice of their passing through Vienna, the University Of Pretoria Youth Choir surprised many with their sudden appearance at the Museums Quarter, this past weekend. These young enthusiastic minds have reached heights that many dream of with their voices.

Black Messengers Afro Band is made up of 5 talented musicians from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya and Burkina Faso. Their music has been influenced by a variety of cultures. It's a fusion of African traditional music and Afro Pop, filled with harmonious singing, percussion, Kora, energetic afro moves.

The celebrating had already started when Africanlife.eu arrived and fortunately just in time to see Prince Zeka perform with his Band. To my surprise, the venue OJ Club was decorated with traditional Ethiopian draping as well as the National Ethiopian flag. Respect to the organizers of the event, the Abugida Vienna Cultural Association.

With a string of events lined up around Vienna, on this particular day, my calling was to the Kenyans in Diaspora Austria Launch in Commemoration of Kenya's 50 Celebration. This being the first inaugural KIDA Celebration, there definitely  was a good turn out, as many attended the event, honoring the KIDA Award Winners in support of the organization.
