02.05.2014, Derwish, Vienna
Its time to take a different approach on articles and really get to the root of things when it comes to this genre of music. There are so many artist that pass through Vienna and even though their all trying to achieve the same goal there is always something in particular that differentiates each one apart from the other.
With a voice like his, Torch, a Jamaican born artist from Trench town, brought great vibes with him to Vienna. Even though his performance was on a small stage he keep such a vibrant energy performing, the atmosphere of Derwish seemed very cosy and perhaps that would have been one of the reason this artist felt so relaxed on stage and gave off such wonderful vibes. Having started off his career in the music industry as a sound technician and he found himself in the same position as any other artist he would share the studio with and was discovered just singing in studio not knowing that this would be the beginning of his own musical career. The rest is history as he ventures off into the music world representing Reggae music.
Torch had the massive drawn in, serenading one of the audience members with one of his wonderful tunes, I'd suppose any man would want to be in his shoes who attended the concert. Its always one of the most interesting aspects of the concert seeing the audiences reaction to the artist and the vibe between audience and artist was great.
The opening act by Xindl Banton and the Gfrastafari Band from Austria was intriguing, throughout the evening, Simplicity Sound, SoulShakeSound, Dj Jah Elevator, Dj Jahmira, Lisa JahMira Hollaus, Dj Lal, Sound system Bshow Case, played great tunes and kept the massive entertained.
We at Africanlife would like to thank Dj Taff for bringing this talent to Vienna for the massive to enjoy and for keeping Reggae music alive.
