The flame kept on burning this year as the Bun Fire Squad presented Vienna with the Dub Champions Festival 2014.
As fast as our expectations of the event rose, quickly they put to rest, as soon as we set foot into the venue at WUK, the venue was absolutely full to capacity with the massive there to enjoy a night of Dub.
The line up of artist was amazing, as this trend of music only seem to grow and extend its wings amongst the massive not only in Vienna but throughout Europe. With guest artist from abroad and our local sound system WUK was brought to life by Mad Professor, Joe Ariwa, Zion Train, Brother Culture, Dubblestandart, Subatomic Sound System, Camel, Empress Ayeola, Jazzmin Tutum and Baba Sound & Friends.
Strange moment, as I remembered seeing Mad Professor in Bratislava with Macka B, crazy vibe then and once again he brought the energy back to Vienna this time. Fitta Warri in a sound system, was mind boggling with Zion Train and as for the collaboration they did with Jazzmin Tutum, speechless, sometimes one becomes so encapsulated by the the sounds and words it's indescribable. What team effort does in the spear of the moment one cannot put into words. Empress Ayeola presence is one thing that I would have to mention before saying anything else, she brings about calm in a whirlwind of thoughts, this Empress is amazing, its unfortunate that even though we did not manage to see her full performance the piece that we did see, prepared us for the woman we were about to meet during the interview. To mention all the performances, all excited from the memories of the evening the Dub Champions Festivals would only have one end up writing a book...lol..., but we certainly had good feedback. Baba Sound and Friends kept the massive chilled out, I persoanlly always enjoy his sets, one of Vienna's representatives when it comes to the genre of Reggae music.
This evening had an energy that one could only say was brought about by massive, there was a ONENESS, everyone was on the same par, the beats, base and lights and performances on one stage, all synchronized. Awesome evening.
Dub Champions Festival never seems to leave rooms for disappointment, its just one of those festivals you never want to miss.
Bun Fire Squad, Rasheed and Bush planet …big up to the vibes you keep rolling through Vienna.
