05.07.2013, Kasumama Africa Festival, Moorbad Harbach

They say shake what your mama gave you and this is what was happening at Kasumama on the 5.07.2013. The festivities went on as usual but as soon as the sun was about to set, the place came to life with performances by Hot Water (South Africa) and Ghettoman and the Believers.

What a wonderful feeling forgetting about where on earth I was for just a couple of minutes. It felt like I was amongst a crowd back home, enjoying the music, dancing and singing along. Then brought back to the reality that a South African group had come all the way to where I was.

Perhaps the emotion brings one to write such an article. But in all honest truth, fact is that they simply rocked, Hot Water had everyone moving even the cameraman forgot that he was taking pictures for a moment. I believe that I would be able to vouch for everyone who saw them perform that it was really such a wonderful energy. Finally got to see them live and loved it.

Hot Water’s music incorporates elements of traditional South African music such as township jive, kwela, maskanda, mbaqanga, sakkie-sakkie, ghoema and kwasa kwasa, with folk, blues and indie-pop rock.

Hot Water has released 3 CD's "Home", "One" and their last release was in 2011 with the CD, titled "South".

In the videosection you are able to see a older interview, done by Africanlife.eu with Hot Water at the Afrika Overtuere at Schloss Fridau.

From the Jive style music to the Roots Reggae music with Ghettoman and the Believers. Having seen this artist perform many a times, still he brings back an extremely refreshing sense of what his message is out the the world.

His music resonates, lyrics echoing songs of peace and freedom. The music does not in any way associate the Reggae culture with violence, drugs and discriminative lyrics but carries across a messages of positive vibes. Ghettoman is a conscious african-warrior, his spear is the word and his shield is the sweet melody.
Ghettoman has released 2 CD's and has made a name for himself across Austria as well as Europe.

Day 4 awaits us…!
