06.06.2014, Reigen, Vienna

Flag flow high Senegambia 2014, Senegalese and Gambians united. Probably the perfect example of how Africans should unite and set examples amongst our African community in Vienna. Music seems to be the foundation of unity to many, perhaps the beating of the African drum would be the calling of a village gathering, but in this instance it was all about Flag Flow High Senegambia 2014. Artist from different parts of Europe joined in this year and making sure that the second Flag Flow High Senegambia took place and it topped the 2013 event.

With a line up of African artist both based in Austria and all around Europe the programme really was something to look forward to. Perhaps the line up of artist seemed pretty long but every single one of them had the massive's attention with performances that we don't regularly see around this part of town.  Rebellion the Recaller, Momar Gaye, Ras Askia, Star Youth, Ranger Locks, Budapest Riddim Band, Dj Taff, Dj Simplicity, Dj Jah Elevator, Njie B, Mo Black, Faya Soldier, Limbo, Shaka, Darka, Nu Chilly, Olungander, Jigsy all made the evening.

I must admit that during the event there was a big difference in the range of artist performing, which I always find extremely interesting, which was also a nice contrast to variety of sounds. Artiste like Momar Gaye, Shaka, Olungander and Rebellion are artiste that have been around for some time and one really is able to differentiate in their style when performing, their vastly experienced and role models to many. The backing bands were amazing and the artist really had fun with the massive.

The team behind the Flag Flow High Senegambia really did a wonderful job putting this event together the second time as the first event itself was successful and this one even something one had been anticipating. Thanks to Fabs Colley and the team!
