11.05.2014, Schmäh kontra Rassismus @ Vindobona

This was the second year that the Verein Eins brought Schmäh Kontra Rassismus to Vienna. An evening filled with Cabaret, Stand-up comedy by Simplice Mugiraneza, Thomas Malirsch, Ösi Bua, Allan Kräuter, Jack Nuri, Leopold Toriser and an Acrobatic performance by the Kichanga Brothers.

When it comes to the definition of defining exactly what a racist is, one could definitely say that each and every individual certainly has their own meaning as to and how they themselves define this word.

Definition
A person who believes that a particular race is superior to another:

Noun
racist

Line breaks:
ra¦cist

Pronunciation:
/ˈreɪsɪst

Well, without any hesitation using the word racist, would it be incorrect to say that each and every person on earth might have a tinge of racist behavior, perhaps some not as comparable as others, as the extent of the personal preference to other nationalities might differ.

The initiative behind the Schmäh Kontra Rasismus brings with it an awareness around the issues of racism that have and are stereotyped in our "diversely modern world". By perhaps changing the notion that one can bring about a sense of humor around issues that are taken so seriously and better understand that not everything should be taken with sobriety.

A few members in the audience seemed to have been discreet in the manner in which they expressed themselves throughout the show, laughing shyly and others just found that having a different temperament on the topic. Everyone seemed to have been having a great time.

In as much as racism is so prevalent in this world, its something that we all undeniably seem to have rooted inside and yes perhaps the extent of how we choose to acknowledge and makes changes in society will be the only way that we could better ourselves and make better strides in acknowledging and better respecting all individuals alike.

Awareness around issues around racism are very important and this initiative by Verein Eins has been executed amazingly. Thanks for bring Schmäh Kontra Rasismus to the people.  We are looking forward to the next event.
