29.06.2013, Nigeria Cultural Week, Carneval, Weltmuseum Wien
A splurge of colour filled the streets of Vienna with a parade from the Nigerian Embassy to the Welt Museum Vienna.
Even though I did not have the advantage of seeing what had taken place first hand, by what I have heard from those who had participated is that it was so much fun. I attended the last day of the event and the attendance said it all, the Nigerian community really stands united in what they do. Setting an example to all other Africans.
There was so much that they had to show cased at the festival, fashion shows: Ayo van Elmar, Owoara Finesse, Couture and Kijiji Africa took place with fantastic designs and an array colours mixed into beautiful designs.
There were numerous performances by artists, to name a few: Elvis Zuma, Solospino, Marcelo, Awoba, Kenya Acrobat, Lanre Odus, Teddy Ziggy, Jemiriye, Owoaram, Chines group, Colombia group, Eyo dancers from Linz, Samuel Ekeh and many more. It was nice seeing so many different cultures come together.
Prominent people like David Alaba, Lydia Obute, Sandra Frauenbeger, Nigerian Ambassador HE. Maria Laose, Governor of Osun State of Nigeria, HE Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Ogun State Commissioner for Tourism and Culture Mrs Yewande Amusan and many others also attended representing Nigeria in Austria.
The experience was a short travel into Africa, right here in Vienna and we at Africanlife would like to thank Mr. Ing. Yemi Ogundele, President NANCA, for the wonderful event.
We're definitely looking forward to attending the Next Nigeria Cultural Week next year!
