The Make me Smile Festival is a charity Reggae festival on behalf of Make Me Smile Kenya.
"With our first festival we could initiate and empower many moving projects of Make Me Smile Kenya and cast a smile on so many faces of people in Western Kenya! On the 19th of october 2013 the Make me Smile Festival wants to reach even more people! In the WUK with its Big Hall* and Foyer** we still have enough space for all the smiling faces."

What does Make Me Smile Kenya do?
Make Me Smile Kenya has partnered with USAID to implement the APHIA PLUS Programme* and to thereby provide a holistic development aid and childcare model. Within this programme, MMS organizes and leads a network of 6 social workers, of which each is in charge of 10-12 community home Visitors (CHV). Every CHV is responsible for 50-55 children in their community.
Specifically they are providing health care, education and vocational training, shelter and protection, economic strengthening and psychosocial support to all 3155 children and their caregivers.

How do we support Make Me Smile Kenya?
We donate all income generated through the festival directly to Make Me Smile Kenya, where 100% of it are directly invested into wonderful projects supporting children and families in Kenya.
Some projects that where supported through Make me Smile Festival 2012
Education/Girls Empowerment
With 351€ we could organize workshops for 64 Make Me Smile social workers and CHVs, to train them in producing self-made reusable sanitary towels. With further 132€ we could distribute enough material and sewing utensils to the 6 participating groups to produce sanitary towels for all vulnerable girls in their area (about 800).
Outreach
Family Support - Jane Atieno is a blind widow. We helped her with 115€ of seed capital to buy 4 bags of corn, which her son is roasting and selling at the street to finance his school fees and the family‘s benefit. With 42€ we‘re insuring their health support for 6 months.
School Fees
Eric Ochieng left school on his own wish to allow his sister to visit school by selling popcorn in front of a mall. We caught up on his wish to do an apprenticeship in bricklaying. With 91€ we financed one semester of education at Kisumu Polytechnic College.
