For the love of music, yes I do get down and boogie or sing when my favourite song plays. And for the love of music, yes I do explore various genres which not many people would usually delve into and find irresistible afterward.
I have become quite esoteric with my music that when it comes to conversation it becomes a complicated matter because I start talking about artists and genres people have never heard. Intelligent Dance Music (IDM), African Psychedelic Rock, Bossa Nova, African traditional music (Benishangul-Gumuz, Kora et cetera) are just some genres that I listen to while some artists cannot be classified into genres as I believe they are unique.
Choosing to explore was the best choice I ever made since I find so many interesting takes on life Reggae for instance is one of them. It is a very misinterpreted genre seeing that it carries very strong political as well as religious messages to its audience. As we know many who listen to Reggae are Rastafarian and are also not so well understood. Songs such as ‘Uptown Down’ by Dre Island, a fresh artist on the scene, speaks about matters that actually concern the working class all round. And ‘Winna’ by Kelissa and Chronixx is very up tempo and encouraging. Though there is also music that does not need lyrics to carry meaning.
IDM, Chillstep or Downtempo need no lyrics for one to enjoy it’s amazing sounds, an artist I always highly recommend is Tycho, his mix of guitar and ambient synth keeps my home alone days nonchalant and I just love it. Yes I understand we sometimes want Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ or Chris Brown and Usher’s eventual collaboration ‘New Flame’ but there is more to the commercial world, and what you might bump into in the underground world might be more relevant otherwise moving for you. You do not have to follow the latest of whatever is out just listen. Like I mentioned earlier music is timeless and has no colour line For the Love of Music, listen to what you like... Now Playing Baden Powell - Blues a Volonte.
