Maybe there wasn't a long line of traffic leading up to the venue or a lot of persons inside, but patrons who turned up at Tracks & Records, Constant Spring Road, on Tuesday night were certainly treated to a hit-filled performance by Wayne Wonder.
Persons started filling up the venue after 10 p.m. But unlike some of the other Behind the Screen stagings there was not a long line outside or a jam-packed parking lot. On the inside, there was relatively free movement, with the St Andrew venue moderately occupied. Nonetheless, some of the persons who turned up to see the performance were industry heavyweights like Beres Hammond, Mikey Bennett, Donovan Germaine and Tony Rebel.
At exactly 11 p.m. Wonder took the stage with a slow number, but he was not necessarily as crisp and clear as he is known to be.
Good Reception
However, as the performance progressed, he came into his own. Not long after, he had the audience dancing to some of his more uptempo songs. He got good reception and even had to 'pull up' songs like Keep Them Coming and Informer.
He also thrilled patrons with older songs like Saddest Day, Joyride and Bashment Girl. Wonder had the audience eating out of his hand when he delved even deeper into his extensive catalogue with tracks such as Forever Young, I Do Believe, Slowly But Surely, Searching and Love And Affection.
More recent songs in his catalogue like No Letting Go, Bounce Along and Anything Goes also found favour among patrons and had them dancing throughout.
As he ended the performance at midnight, Wonder also used the opportunity to tell patrons about his new album, My Way, that was released in December.
