Diversity, engagement and a night filled with fun and festivities, this was the 7th consecutive Afrika Frühlingsball 2014 all made possible by Afrika Radio TV and Lady Soul. But before this day lots of word seemed to have gone on around town about how this years ball might turn out and despite the fact that another similar event had taken place weeks before the Afrika Frühlingsball was still on track and had an amazing attendance.

In the heart of Vienna, Africans once again had a reason to unite, coming together from different parts of Austria to attend the Ball. Without any doubt Africa itself is a colourful continent and so was the venue filled with an array of colours and beautiful African attire, respresenting different parts of Africa. For many Africans this was an opportunity to network and even the possibility of meeting up with old friends to enjoy a night filled with African spirit. Others found that the Ball was rejuvenating their souls and it definitely seemed to have served its purpose.

The opening of the Ball was something one looked forward to with the element of Africa meets Europe, as a Ball in Africa would have its own dimension of an opening and this was represented in Viennese style,  I enjoyed it.

The highlight of the evening was the entertainment, from the line up of artists, African Carneval, Team Oluyemi Ogundele, U & U Dancingcrew , Shurel Reynolds, Hanene Belly Dance, Diese Gute, Voice of Africa, Nomaden Ruf feat. Habib Samandi, Prince Zeka, Petit Pays, Dj Baba Ewe, Big Buffalo, Dj Trigga, DJ Soso, DJ Lazer, DJ Admir as these were the people that brought the Ball to life, making the festivities play out into the early hours of the morning.

There was also another aspect of the Ball honoring a few individuals and awarding them for their roles played within the community and the theme of the evening being UBUNTU.

The Radio Afrika TV Ubuntu Award 2014 was received by the following:

Mr Manfred Rudolf - Culture and Awareness Award
Mr Prince Pallikunnel, alias "Mr.Prosi" -  Migration - Business
Mr Oluyemi Ogundele - Culture and Awareness Award
Ms. Teclaire Ngo Tam - Development Award

Mr Franz Schmidjel Migration- Development Award
Mr. Ike Okafore - African Community Empowerment Award ( Linz )
Mr. Michael Fanizadeh - Migration - Development Award
Mr. Frederick David - Culture and Awareness Award
Mr. Emmanuel Kandem - African Community Empowerment Award ( Graz )

We at Africanlife would like to congratulate you all, for the positive input you all have in the African community!

What does Ubuntu mean:

Ubuntu

ʊˈbʊntʊ/
South African
noun: ubuntu
A quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity.
Origin: Xhosa and Zulu.

Nelson Mandela explained Ubuntu as follows:

"A traveller through a country would stop at a village and he didn't have to ask for food or for water. Once he stops, the people give him food and attend him. That is one aspect of Ubuntu, but it will have various aspects. Ubuntu does not mean that people should not enrich themselves. The question therefore is: Are you going to do so in order to enable the community around you to be able to improve?"

Much appreciation goes out to Alexis Nshimyimana Neuberg and Dorothy Hagen and their team, once again uniting all Africans through initiatives like the Afrika Frühling Ball 2014. It really was a spectacular evening that will live on, in the memories of many.
